Most everyone has heard that Music and Passion is
going dormant for awhile to allow Barry to recuperate
from upcoming hip surgery. A recent press release indicates the down time will
extend into October. Everyone at The Lone Star
Serenade sends good thoughts Barry’s way hoping his ordeal involves
minimal discomfort with a maximum long term benefit.
Barry’s Public Television Special has been
nominated for two (count them!) two Emmy’s. The first award nomination is
for Barry for his individual performance and the second nomination is for sound
mixing by Tom
Davis.
Barry will participate in the Emmy’s on August
27th so turn your televisions to the correct channel
in your area and cross your fingers that the folks who decide the Emmy winners
recognize Barry and Tom for their hard work and creativity.
Barry’s been working up a new CD – The Greatest Hits of the Sixties, and judging the cuts he
shared with BMIFC members at the convention, this CD
is destined to be a favorite of anyone who hears it. The playlist
includes:
Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You, Cherish / Windy, Can’t Help
Falling in Love, There’s a Kind of Hush, And I Love Her, Blue Velvet,
Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head, This Guy’s in Love With You, Everybody
Loves Somebody Sometime, You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling, When I Fall in
Love, Strangers in the Night, and What the
World Needs Now is Love.
The release date is scheduled to be October 31st, but you can pre-order your copy now.
Barry and crew have a couple
of shows on the horizon making the perfect opportunity for fans who can’t
make the trip to Las Vegas, to see the show closer to their homes. If you live close to
Atlantic City or Chicago, get your credit cards out, blow the dust off of them,
and get your tickets to see the show closest to you ….or go see them
both!
